Failing My Wonderful Lord

Failing my wonderful Lord should cause me more pain than anything else. Sometimes it does. Failing Him shortly after I was saved was almost excusable because I did not know Him very well. After several decades of experiencing His faithfulness to me I am without excuse. He has NEVER failed me or any other child of His.

Joshua 23:14: And, behold, this day I am going the way of all the earth: and ye know in all your hearts and in all your souls, that not one thing hath failed of all the good things which the LORD your God spake concerning you; all are come to pass unto you, and not one thing hath failed thereof.

Psalms 103:10: He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.

Often I have not dealt with Him after His love and mercy. Often I have not rewarded Him according to His righteousness. I have failed Him miserably most every day. And still He loves me. My failing Him and my doubting Him should cause me more pain than His chastisement and correction.

Job 13:15: Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.

Romans 7:24-25: O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? 25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

The Apostle Paul knew the painful truth about his flesh. When he was aware of the truth about himself it saturated him with gratitude for Jesus* forgiveness. I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. If you do not experience pain because of your sin and joyful gratitude because of His undeserved forgiveness, I suggest that you ask Him to sharpen your dull conscience. When we are comfortable with our sin, we are in a very dangerous place. Pain over our sin is necessary and should increase our joyful gratitude for His forgiveness. That pain should also motivate us to confess and forsake our sin. I need that pain in my soul and that gratitude most every day.

Proverbs 28:13: He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.
